Welcome to My Arizona Phoenix Mission Memoirs!

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints also known as the Mormons has over 52,000 full time missionaries serving in over 300 missions throughout the world.

You may wonder why so many members of the church spend so much time trying to teach others about what we believe. I created this blog to share my personal experiences as a missionary and my testimony of the truths I have come to know.

I served in the Arizona Phoenix Mission (APM) between July 2005 and December 2006. The posts in this blog are my experiences that I shared with my family as they occurred. I have added some explanations and links so that anyone may read my experiences and understand more about what I believe and why.

I invite you to share my APM journey with me get to know the miracles and the difficulties of being a missionary and understand more about the gospel of Jesus Christ and how and why I know it is true. I pray you will feel welcome to share your own experiences or to ask sincere questions.

Enjoy! Ü

Small Miracles

So a little background about my previous post... Sister Bohnet is my trainer and we have had the opportunity to come into an area that had previously been an Elder's area. That is what I mean by "flushed out the area" We lived in a hotel for the first week and a half and then we finally were able to move into our apartment. That is what I explained last week. The apartment has cleaned up nicely now and I am getting used to filtering all my water and using bleach when I wash dishes. I am feeling much more at
home.

It has made all the difference to have such a great companion. Sister Bohnet has been an incredible example to me. She is a hard worker and an awesome missionary. I love it! We make quite the pair. She is from Hawaii. She loves sports and MEAT! Wow can that woman eat meat! LOL We went to a Hawaiian Barbecue place last week and all she ate was rice and a plate full of meat. She thinks my love of vegetables and salad especially is crazy. LOL That is ok I think we balance each other out.Ü

The work is progressing. Things are going well for Dennis Webster who I told you a little about last week. We had an incredible discussion about Alma 32 this week and tried to get to the root of his concerns. He committed to keep reading but we are still not sure what all of his concerns are. I found out that he was a Mason and was wondering if anyone knew anything about them-I don't know if that has anything to do with his concerns because he hasn't talked about it at all but it doesn't hurt to find out right?

Anyway Sunday was incredible. He came to church with his wife who is a convert and a sister gave her homecoming speech in the ward. Everything that was said correlated exactly with the things we had talked about with Dennis and even Sister Webster commented that she felt it was directed at him. I know the Lord works through each of us! It is so incredible to be a part of this work and to see things like this happen. I know that they happen all the time all around us if we will just open our spiritual eyes and look for them.Ü

There have been so many other things happening and I know the Lord is teaching me step by step how to be prepared. Yesterday we had another awesome experience. We had planned to go down south in out area (we live up North at the very top) and visit a few families down there. On the way down however, we realized we were going the wrong direction and then our gas light came on. We didn't know what to do so I suggested we pray and find out what th Lord would have us do. After we prayed I got out a list of referrals and found one that was really close to where we had pulled over. Jane had already said she wasn't interested in receiving anything from the elders earlier in the year. When we stopped at her house however we prayed again that she would let us in and that we could teach her. Well we did get in and we were able to teach her. WOW. She is Pentecostal and has been very impressed with the people she knows who are LDS. She has some problems with some of our beliefs however but we were able to testify her and share the first vision and the spirit was strong. We will see what happens.Ü
